Home Caring Newcastle’s new Respite Day Centre provides a wide range of social activities that build skills, encourage communication, nurture independence, and above all, are lots of fun!
We run from Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm (extended hours by consultation).
Cooking up a storm
A skill building program which assists gaining independence in their cooking skills.
Giving them a valued status as well as developing their fine motor skills.
Socialisation – Sharing the food we cook together.
Skill Building
Our Day respite program provides many social activities which assist in skill building , enhancing life skills encouraging communication and independence.
We can modify programs to suit individual needs.
Thru My Eyes
Thru my eyes gives our clients opportunities to gain skills as well as showcase the items that stand out to them thru their creative flair from the use of paint – clay and much more.
Happy Hour
At the end of the day we can enjoy and reflect on what we did today with canapes and non-alcoholic beverages at the McInnes street Bar.
Encouraging interaction between each other and developing many social skills for independence in the community
Quiet Corner
The quiet corner also has a moment for ME to listen to talking books and music of my choice away from others if I need that time to Reflect or just to be ME.
Music and Me
Be apart of our music day- play an instrument and sing the songs you love. Expressing themselves thru music , audio stimulation as well as performing arts
Home Caring Newcastle’s Respite Day Centre is run by experts in disability care. Our experienced team can modify programs to suit individual needs. We can assist with transport to and from the centre if required.
Itinerary of funness
Monday Messy Day
- Activity: Make a clay pot, vase or item of your choice do some painting or l just get messy
- Make yogurt for your morning Tea and serve it with fruit that you have prepared earlier 😊
- Lunch will be an assortment of meats and salads for you to make yourself a wrap or sandwich with filling of your choice
- Afternoon tea will be the Ice cream you made after lunch today.
- You get to take some home for your family to taste or keep it all to yourself
Tuesday Taco day
- Put on your Mexican hat- it’s time to Onda lay – Onda lay get cooking
- On arrival you will make custard tarts -OOPS you cannot eat them now – have to wait for morning Tea – you will have to wait for morning tea
- You will also make Pannacotta to have for desert today – need to do it early so they set
- Chop – chop for tacos – soft tacos – hard crunchy tacos or Nachos for lunch which one will you have?
- Today we will have happy hour at the Bar with canapes and Margaritas and hit the pinata before going home
Wednesday Music day
What will we have for morning tea today – you and your fellow groupies get to decide- Time to grab your instruments and bring your singing voice and get ready to ROCK – GUEST Musician to come chopping up for making pizza is what we do next – what will be on yours today – More music and singing fun before going home.
Thursday – Tree tops day
- Plant a plant in your pot that you made on messy Monday or pick one of our readymade ones.
- Just need some decoration on the pot first and planting will come next.
- Ready to take home at end of the day. Bring a pair of white socks for Tie Dying or lets Tie Dye An Apron to wear for Activities. Today is Pancake and Bacon day YUMMO. Taking turns mixing and cooking.
- Will we have it for Lunch – Will we have it for Morning Tea. Will we have it with Green Eggs and ham Sam I Am.
- Let’s have it for lunch and make cookies for morning tea If the sun is shining bright and the skies are blue we can have a picnic at Tree Tops too.
Friday Fancy Feast Day
- Lets get fancy today we make Pluto pups and Potato Scallops maybe even Fish and Chips Muffins for morning tea, chocolate, strawberry, vegie or date and honey.
- Movies are on today which one will we watch? Movie day isn’t complete without a choc top ice cream- that we prepared this morning.
- Happy hour at the bar this afternoon.
- Lets make Cooking and activity plans for next week while we relax after our day
